Fashion Bug Silver

Happy Labor day to all of my US readers!

I was in Fashion Bug (don't judge!) awhile ago and noticed they had nail polish at the register.  Well, OBVIOUSLY I had to get a couple.  The selection of colors wasn't that great.  I want to say they had about 10 or so different colors?  Nothing really struck me as anything unique, but I still wanted to check them out.  I picked up this one that I'm about to show you and a blue shimmer that I haven't swatched yet.

Fashion Bug Silver can best be described as the darker, more pewter-like cousin of Orly Shine.  The foil look of it is identical.  I think it's a really gorgeous color, quite honestly.

It was pretty well pigmented, with great, 3-coat coverage.  I can't attest to the wear, as I didn't have it on long enough to tell.

Have a great last "unofficial" day of summer everyone!

Orly Royal Navy

Today is the last day of teacher workdays.  Tuesday we have students.  Even though this will be my 7th first day of school, I STILL get nervous.  lol  My in-laws are coming in today as well.  This means that I will not be allowed to touch and/or care for my children in any way, shape or form for the entire weekend.  Can you tell that my MIL stresses me a bit?

I've been looking for Royal Navy for a long time.  I found it when I was at Ulta with my mother this summer.

It's such a ME color....blue and PRETTY shimmer.  I had a bit of a wonky brush, so it was hard to apply...other than that, no problems.  Nice three coat coverage.

I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but it dries more on the satiny side.  I didn't use top coat when I took the picture, but to wear this as a full mani, I definitely would.

Thanks for stopping by...wish me luck this weekend!   ;-)

Deborah Lippmann Does the Emmy's!

Deborah Lippmann did manicures for Lea Michelle and January Jones at The Emmy Awards the other night.

Lea Michele
Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues
Lea Michele wore one of Deborah’s newest shades from the All That Jazz set called Lady Sings The Blues, a silver-sparkled navy blue.

January Jones
Lippmann's Dark Side Of The Moon

Presenter January Jones wore Dark Side Of The Moon, an absolutely aubergine shade, in an almond shape. “To achieve the almond nail, file away the sides to create a tapered shape—just like an almond,” Lippmann instructs. “The idea is to create an elegant, elongated shape, not a severe point.”

WOW...both looked gorgeous!

Lady Sings the Blues is available as part of the All That Jazz collection.  Both colors are now available online at DeborahLippmann.com and also at Nordstrom.com and Nordstrom stores nationwide.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday to ME Giveaway!

Hehe.  My birthday is coming up this month (can you believe that it's September!) Plus, I just wanted to celebrate the growth my wee little blog has experienced over the past couple of months.  Who knew?

I just wasn't sure WHAT to offer for this giveaway that would show my appreciation to you all properly.  It was a hard decision, but I think I have a couple of neat things.  So, what am I giving away?

1) Some Bare Escentuals eye colors in Clarity and Socialite, plus an eye color brush.  Both colors are green, but a VERY neutral green.  I'm able to wear them, and I usually can't do green eye makeup.

2) A bottle of the ever elusive Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.  For once I was able to find a ltd. edition SH nail polish...NEVER HAPPENS HERE!  hehe.  When I found it I made sure to pick up an extra for just such an occasion.

3) The new China Glaze Awakening Halloween collection.  I wasn't sure I would be able to find this in time to do a giveaway for my birthday...but I did.  Whew!

4) plus whatever else I may find that would be interesting.

Introducing the Zoya Color Spoon!

A few weeks ago, I received the following email from Zoya announcing the launch of their new Color Spoons: *click so you can actually read it!*

From Zoya Press Release

So there you have it!  Zoya offers us a no-risk way to try their colors!  I think this is pretty amazing myself because I KNOW that I can't be the only one who buys a color of nail polish and just doesn't like the way it looks on me...Or how many of us have bought something only to realize that we have 2 other bottles that look exactly like it?
So, what do you think?

China Glaze It's My Turn

Another oldie, but goodie!  (Not really OLD, but you know what I mean).  It's My Turn is from the Kaleidoscope Collection released back in 2006.  Last month I posted another polish from the same collection.

In another post, I mentioned that I don't like the way gold nail polish looks on me.  This is one of the exceptions.  I think it's because it's more of a brown-based gold.  It doesn't look half bad.

Yummy-holo goodness.  I used 3 coats in these pictures.  I suggest clicking on the picture above to get a better look at the HOLO.

Keep an eye out, I'm posting some news in a minute, plus later on today I'm posting my giveaway!
